Love in All Its Forms

ree

“Ha ha! Rub it in—I ain’t got a special someone who will receive my call…”

We’ve all said it, half-joking, half-hoping. The world loves to celebrate romantic partnerships, but what about the many other forms of love that weave meaning into our days?

The Many Faces of Love

Love is not a single thread—it’s a tapestry. I tell my kids “I love you” every single day. I tell my closest friends—especially the fierce women who cheer me on—“love you” too. That’s not romance. That’s kinship.

“Love isn’t scarce—it’s abundant, expressed differently in every relationship we nurture.”

From the Greeks, we learned there are many names for love:

  • Philia — deep friendship

  • Storge — family love

  • Eros — passion

  • Agape — unconditional love

Each love is valid. Each one shapes us.

The Longing for One

Still, there’s a unique yearning many of us carry: to find that person. The one you can look at and say “I love you”—with your heart, your body, your mind, and your soul all aligned.

Wanting this doesn’t mean you’re incomplete. It means you’re human.

“To long for love is to prove you’re alive, reaching, evolving.”

It’s not about needing someone to “fix” you. It’s about sharing the fullness of who you already are with someone who can see, receive, and reciprocate.

Love as Practice

Until that special someone arrives, love doesn’t wait. It’s a practice we can live daily:

  • Speak it freely. Say “I love you” to your children, your friends, your community, even yourself.

  • Show it bodily. Extend a hug, a smile, or the simple gift of presence.

  • Anchor it spiritually. Whisper “I love you” to the universe, to the earth, to the quiet spaces that hold you.

“Practicing love prepares us to receive it fully when it finds us.”

Closing Thought

Whether your I love you today is to your kids, your best friend, your circle of sisters, or even whispered into the night sky—you are part of love’s great current.

And no, it is never too much to want someone who meets you at the level of heart, mind, body, and soul. That kind of love doesn’t diminish the others—it completes the circle.

✨ Love is never wasted. Every ‘I love you’ expands the field. Keep practicing it, in all its forms, until it lands where your soul longs most.
